Sunrise Song
And the sun has risen once more
As it has a million times before,
Yet every sunrise is brand new
and mercies fall with morning dew,
My sins of yesterday wiped clean
By the blood of He who died for me.
This day, a gift come from above
From the Father of Lights and of the Sun
Father of the Son, grant me this day
My daily bread; show me the way
To walk in humility, trust, and love
And when I fear, remind me of
The goodness of your sovereign plan.
Each day you hold in mighty hands;
Let me not fret or worry away
For all things are for good, you say
For those who love you, Lord, but I -
My love is feeble, though I try.
My spirit wills, my flesh is weak,
My heart won’t listen when you speak
But teach me, Lord, to hear your voice
And to follow with every choice.
By your great grace, I worship you
As the Sun rises on mercies new.
